Gigante's Too Reopening In Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — Great news for fans of the Gigante’s Too deli in Wallingford. A little more than a month after announcing that the popular deli was closing for good, Grace Gigante Giulietti said the eatery is reopening this week.

“Ciao! Exciting news! We will be reopening Tuesday, June 30th,” Giulietti wrote in a post on Facebook. “My cousin Tina, who has worked with us for 30 years has purchased the business. She has always been reliable, hardworking, creative and active in the community. Our passion for food stems from our family, who are immigrants from Abruzzo, Italy. Our nonni always said: ‘The most important ingredient in food is love.’ We can’t wait to see everyone.”

Fans of the family’s food first learned in April that the original Gigante's Deli closing its doors for good. They were dealt another blow in May when it was announced the family's other deli, Gigante's Too was also closing.

Gigante's Too, located at 817 East Center St., had temporarily closed March 21 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Giulietti originally planned to reopen after the pandemic, however, she announced in May that she made the "difficult decision to join my brothers in retirement."

The sign posted at the deli’s door still said “Temporarily Closed” as of last week, giving fans a glimmer of hope.

Giulietti said there will be some new COVID procedures to follow with the deli’s reopening. They include:

• -Masks are a must
• -6 feet distance
• Entrance: Front door
• Exit: Side Door
• Curb side: Back Door. Sign is posted with phone number. Call on arrival we will bring your Food out
• Delivery: Door Dash
• Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Closed Sunday
