Man Burglarized Gas Station In Wallingford: Police

The man, who police said has "numerous" previous burglary convictions, was found near the gas station and arrested early Friday morning.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Hartford man is accused of burglarizing a gas station early Friday morning in Wallingford, according to police.

Police responded to Sunoco at 440 Main St. around 12:40 a.m. on the report of a burglary that just happened, according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques.

A witness told police the direction the suspect was heading. Police found the suspect, identified as James Epps, a short distance away near Duchess Restaurant (124 Church St.), according to Jaques.

Jaques said Epps was found to be in the possession of stolen merchandise.

Epps, who Jaques said has “numerous” previous burglary convictions, was arrested and taken to police headquarters.

Epps, 53, of Enfield Street in Hartford, was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
