Man Tried To Rob Bank In Wallingford: Police

WALLINGFORD, CT — Police are asking for help identifying a man they said tried to rob a bank in Wallingford on Monday morning.

Police responded to a report of an attempted bank robbery at the Bank of America branch at 938 North Colony Rd. in the Stop & Shop Plaza around 10:35 a.m., according to Lt. Michael Colavolpe.

Colavolpe said a white middle-aged man wearing jeans, a hooded sweatshirt, winter-type gloves and glasses approached a bank teller and presented a note, demanding money. No weapons were displayed, according to Colavolpe.

The man walked out of the bank before getting any money and headed north toward the Route 68 overpass where a getaway vehicle was potentially waiting, according to Colavolpe.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity or who saw a vehicle parked or waiting on the Route 68 overpass near the bank is asked to contact Detective Sean Houlihan at 203-294-2844.

The Connecticut Bankers Reward Association is offering a reward up to $500 to anyone who aids in the arrest of the suspect, according to Colavolpe.
