New Pizzeria, Ice Cream Parlor Coming To Plaza In Wallingford

The new businesses are part of an ongoing $500,000 renovation to the plaza, according to a report.

WALLINGFORD, CT — The owners of a new bakery are also opening an ice cream parlor in the Wallingford Center Plaza on South Colony Road, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports Martin and Hilaris Martinez, who opened Azteca Bakery in October, are planning to open Rey Azteca Ice Cream within the next six weeks in the plaza on Route 5.

A new pizzeria will replace Stella Pizza & Restaurant, which closed last December after more than 30 years in business. The space is being renovated in preparation for the opening of Natalie’s Apizza.

“We are thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of Natalie’s Apizza,” reads a recent post on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “After 25 years in the food service industry, we have decided to focus on what we do best!

“Located in the Wallingford Center Plaza, Natalie’s will feature authentic New Haven style pizza, along with classic home style entrees and much more. We are confident in providing our customers with a quality product utilizing premium ingredients.”
