New Restaurant Opens In Wallingford

The former head chef at a popular restaurant in Milford has opened a new eatery in Wallingford.

WALLINGFORD, CT — The former head chef at Sloppy Jose’s Mexican Restaurant in Milford has opened a new restaurant in Wallingford, according to the Meriden Record-Journal. Larry and Mike’s Route 5 Kitchen officially opened last week in the former home of the Dog House Grill at 628 S. Colony Rd.

Owner Larry Jennes told the Record-Journal that he and his partner have been talking about opening a restaurant since Sloppy Jose’s closed in 2015.

Larry and Mike’s Route 5 Kitchen is “the ‘go-to’ place for fresh home cooked meals,” according to its description on Facebook. “Catering and take out is our specialty! Custom catering available to fit your needs. No order too big.”

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and coffee. It is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays.
