No Swimming at Wharton Brook State Park on Tuesday
The state DEEP has announced that the swimming area at two state parks are closed: BREAKING
WALLINGFORD, CT — The swimming areas at Wharton Brook State Park in Wallingford are closed for Tuesday, Aug. 2, because of the water quality report, the state DEEP announced.
Day Pond State Park in Colchester was also closed for swimming.
Samples are collected weekly by DEEP staff and are analyzed at the Department of Public Health Lab for the presence of certain indicator bacteria.

Indicator bacteria are not disease causing pathogens, but are one of the tools used by public health and environmental protection authorities to evaluate the potential for contamination of waterbodies, according to the DEEP.
