Obituary: Shirley M. Stevens, 88, Of Wallingford

Shirley, who worked at Choate until her retirement, loved to spend time with her family and her friends. She also loved her "scratchies."

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Shirley M. (Slie) Stevens, 88, of Wallingford, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the loving wife of the late Richard Daniel Stevens who predeceased her on April 24.

She was born in Meriden on December 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Robert and Sadie (Appel) Slie and worked at Choate Rosemary Hall as the Laundry Manager until her retirement.

Shirley loved to spend time with her family and her friends. Also, she loved her ‘scratchies.’ She won $20k on a 20x, she was a treated like a celebrity at CT Lottery. She was so happy; she was extremely lucky and always would win at anything she did. She loved to go to Bingo on Tuesday night and call family to say that I won. She also loved to shop.

Shirley was a very kind and giving person she was loved by everyone. She will surely be missed.

Shirley is survived by her children, Ricky Stevens, Sandra Miller and her husband Donald, Michael Stevens and his life partner, Carolyn; her grandsons, Richie and his wife Nikki, and Bobby Miller; her great-grandchildren, Haylee and Oliver; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by all her siblings apart from Donald Slie of Vermont, in which she had a very special relationship.

Funeral services for Richard and Shirley will be announced in the future. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Wallingford Funeral Home.
