WALLINGFORD, CT — In an effort to improve pedestrian safety, police have announced a parking ban for the area in front of the Wallingford Public Library.

Police announced Wednesday the following amendment of the town’s parking regulations applying to the section of North Main Street fronting the Town of Wallingford Public Library, between Academy Street and Curtis Avenue.

  • There shall be No Parking Permitted at any time along the eastern curb line of North Main Street, beginning at the south side of Curtis Avenue and extending southerly along the curb line for a distance of approximately 170 feet, fronting 187 North Main Street.

“The foregoing amendment will be effective and enforceable upon appropriate sign installation, and shall supersede any previous regulations concerning parking along this specific section of roadway,” police wrote in a news release. “This regulation has been adopted, in part, to allow for safer pedestrian and vehicular movement in the area fronting the public library. The Police Department, in cooperation with the Town’s Engineering and Public Works Departments are evaluating the area for potential additional safety modifications.”
