Popular Pizza Place Reopens In Wallingford

The restaurant had closed unexpectedly.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Stella Pizza & Restaurant in Wallingford recently reopened after being closed for nearly two weeks. Owner Cindy Fiorentino told the Meriden Record-Journal that the restaurant, located at 11 South Colony Road, was forced to close temporarily due to financial hardship involving state taxes.

The community responded to the unexpected closing by raising about $5,000 for the restaurant through a GoFundMe account, according to the Record-Journal. To sign up for Wallingford breaking news alerts and more, click here.

“Thank you everyone for your kind words, support, and generosity,” reads a post on the Stella Pizza & Restaurant Facebook page. “It was appreciated more than you can ever imagine, more than I could ever explain. Being able to cook for all of you, laugh and create memories with all of you means so much to me. Over these last 31 years, I have met so many amazing people, watched kids grow up and have kids of their own, and have had a place where everyone can get together and feel like part of a family.

“Over the past few years, there have been some struggles with bills due to several factors. With your help, we were able to give an amount as a downpayment, which was accepted by the state, and this will allow us to setup a payment plan on the balance. Stella Pizza is so thankful to all of you and are so happy to say that we will be reopening Thursday August 23rd. We hope to see you soon and we love you all!”
