Report: Wallingford Lawmaker Considering for Leadership Role in House GOP

A state lawmaker who represents a portion of Wallingford is reportedly considering a leadership position for the Republican Party in the Connecticut General Assembly.

CTMirror.org reported this week that Rep. Vin Candelora, of North Branford, is one of three candidates who are "quietly campaigning" to succeed House Minority Leader Larry Cafero, of Norwalk, on the assumption that Cafero won't seek another term in 2014.

The other two candidates are Themis Klarides of Derby and Jason Perillo of Shelton, the Mirror reported. 

Cafero has been the GOP House Minority Leader since 2007, and has been a notable spokesman for the Republican party in a state dominated by Democrats in both state and federal office.

Apart from Wallingford, Candelora represents Durham, Guilford and North Branford.
