Road Closure Announced For Santa Claus Car Parade In Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford police have announced road closures and parking bans that will be in effect for the “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” car parade event on Dec. 6.

The event is sponsored by the Wallingford Public Celebrations Committee, Wallingford Parks & Recreation, and Wallingford Center Inc. The rain date of Dec. 6 has been put into effect, officials announced on Wednesday. (Read more from Wallingford police below).

The following road closure and parking prohibitions will be in effect for all vehicular traffic:

Road Closures as follows:

South Main Street will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic between the intersection of Center Street and the intersection of Prince Street from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6.

Parking prohibitions:

Parking prohibitions will be in place on both sides of South Main Street between Center Street and Prince Street, and the entire length of South Main Street along its eastern curb line between Prince Street and South Elm Street at the above noted date and times in anticipation of the road closure and car parade queue. Please be reminded that vehicles parked in violation of this prohibition will be subject to the issuance of a parking ticket by police and removal by tow truck.

Attendees:

The Police Department would like to advise attendees that this event is a vehicular parade, and at no time should attendees exit their vehicles when inside the event area. Vehicles attending are to line up along the eastern curb of South Main Street, heading in a north bound direction, and will enter the event at the intersection of South Main Street and Prince Street. While in line, please have your vehicle hazard lights activated. We encourage attendees to enter from points south, such as South Main Street at South Elm Street, and drive northward until you encounter vehicles in line along the curb with hazards on. We would like to remind attendees to be courteous of one another and not attempt to cut the line, and be mindful not to block the intersections of side streets while in line.

The rain date will be Sunday, Dec. 6 with all the same criteria.
