Students in North Haven and Wallingford Honored for Academic Achievements in Kumon Math and Reading

North Haven, CT 05/02/2015 – Students enrolled at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of North Haven, CT are proving that hard work and daily practice pays off. As a result of attending weekly sessions, several students made significant academic improvements and are studying above their school grade level. Students received milestone awards like Mastery over Multiplication and division level at 3rd grade level - C by 3, fraction mastery by 4th grade level, E by 4 & pre-algebra by 5th grade, G by 5. Mayor Mike graced the occasion by his presence and awarded the students.

An award ceremony on May 2nd honored the academic successes of local Kumon students. Kumon’s individualized approach helps children progress by ability rather than age or grade. In the U.S., 350,000 students from preschool to high school are developing advanced skills and confidence through Kumon’s Method of Learning.

“At Kumon, we believe children have unlimited potential to succeed,” said Kumon Director, Raj Honnaya. “My goal is to help each child develop strong academic skills, a love of learning and the confidence to excel beyond the classroom.”

Kumon is the world’s largest after-school math and reading enrichment program. Students of all ages visit the Kumon Center twice each week after-school. The result of this extra study is stronger independence and concentration, greater confidence and improved math and reading comprehension skills. Kumon’s learning method uses an individualized approach aimed to unlock the potential of children. Through daily practice and mastery of materials, students develop better study and test taking skills.
