Wallingford Business Shuts Down, 32 To Lose Jobs In December

WALLINGFORD, CT — Respironics Novametrix, LLC, a division of Philips North America LLC, is shutting down its Wallingford facility, which will lead to all of its employees losing their jobs, according to documents the company recently filed with the state Department of Labor.

Respironics is a manufacturer of surgical and medical instruments on Technology Drive, and officials said the dismissals have already begun. The stated reason for the closure is "business reorganization."

Thirty-two employees are scheduled to be dismissed on Dec. 18.

"The terminations will occur in waves beginning on March 31, 2020 with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2021," officials wrote in a letter to the state.

Of the 32 terminations, 25 of them will be production workers, officials said. The others will be:
