Wallingford to Gather for a Rally Against Hate
Speakers and attendees will meet outside Town Hall on Saturday at 4pm.

"If you're not angry, you're not paying attention."
As we approach the 3 year remembrance of the white supremacist attack in Charlottesville, VA, Wallingford will gather again in a public stand against hate, racism, and white supremacy.
After the devastating attack on peaceful counter-protesters at a white-supremacist march in Charlottesville, VA, in 2017, Wallingford came together to denounce hate and promote inclusion. Over the last 3 years, not only has Wallingford had 4 documented hate incidents, we've witnessed a nationwide uptick in hate crimes, a steady stream of racist attacks on people of color, bullets to the back, and knees on the necks of our brothers and sisters in the Black community. All of this compounded by racist policies and systemic inequality that many are just now realizing the depth and scope of. You can join on August 15th at 4 p.m. as we bring our community together in support of Black Lives Matter, stand against all forms of discrimination, and host a public repudiation of white supremacy and racism, in remembrance of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, Elijah McClain, Trayvon Martin, Heather Heyer and many others. There will be a short panel of speakers to presenting on relevant topics like racism and public health, and to help educate us what we can all do to make a difference and stop hate and racism. Silence is not an option.
