Wallingford Ranks Among Top 30 Safest Cities to Raise a Child in America
A total of five Connecticut communities made the top 30 list.

Studies consistently show that Connecticut is one of the safest states to live in and a new study also reveals that several places in Connecticut are among the country's best for raising a child.
In the SafeWise Report of “The 30 Safest Cities to Raise a Child - 2016.”
Connecticut had five towns make the list and if you extend it out to the top 50 in America, seven Connecticut communities cracked the list.

SafeWise says it based its rankings on the use of violent crime data from the FBI, a review of the sex-offender registry, graduation rates, school rankings and communities that offered unique-kid friendly programs.
The top 5 best places to raise a child in America include: 1. Carmel, Indiana because it has the world's smallest children's art gallery among numerous reasons cited, 2. Fisher, Indiana, 3. Greenwich, CT, 4. Irvine, California, and 5. Middletown Township, NJ.

Greenwich was cited for its low crime, low number of sex offenders, and its great schools.
Fairfield cracked the list at No. 12 and its excellent education system was cited and its strong anti-bullying policies.
West Hartford made the list at No. 25 and SafeWise authors said the community is "quiet and safe," with only 49 crimes cited in 2014 out of 63,000 residents.
Milford was ranked No. 28 and its proximity to Long Island Sound was deemed a major asset along with its vast parks, beaches and its skatepark.
Wallingford ranked No. 29 and its low crime rate was cited.
Earning honorable mentions include: Glastonbury at No. 35 and Shelton at No. 42.
