Wallingford Woman Charged With Narcotics DUI/Risk In Southington
A Wallingford resident involved in a February crash in Southington is accused of being high on drugs with a toddler in the vehicle.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A driver involved in a February crash in Southington is accused of being high on drugs with a toddler in the vehicle, police said.
On March 30, Amy Velush, 36, of Wallingford, surrendered at the Southington Police Department after learning that there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest, police said.
The warrant charged her with driving under the influence, risk of injury to a minor, reckless
driving, failure to drive in proper lane and possession of drug paraphernalia. It was the result of a crash on Nov. 9 on Meriden Waterbury Turnpike near the Southington Drive-In, police said.

According to a report, a Hyundai Santa Fe operated by Velush was traveling in a westerly direction when it crossed the double yellow line, went off the south side of the road and struck a tree. At the time of the collision there was an adult passenger in the vehicle along with a 2-year-old child, according to a report.
Velush and the child were treated at an area medical center for minor injuries.

A syringe was found in the vehicle and the investigation "revealed that Velush was under the influence of narcotics at the time of operation," according to a report.
Velush posted a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on May 18, records show.
