Wallingford YMCA Member Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The Wallingford Family YMCA reported the confirmed coronavirus case on Friday.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A member of the Wallingford Family YMCA's East Side Branch has tested positive for the coronavirus, officials announced Friday.

Officials determined the person was not in close contact with one or more people while at the facility.

“The Wallingford Family YMCA and Wallingford Health Department are committed to maintaining a safe environment for all members & staff,” according to a joint message from Sean Doherty, executive director of the Wallingford Family YMCA, and Wallingford Health Director Stephen A. Civitelli. “We continue to proactively health screen and temperature check anyone who enters our facilities, including vendors, members & staff, and apply enhanced cleaning protocols. We follow all state & local COVID-19 operating protocols and social distancing practices.”

YMCA management “continues to monitor the impact of the COVID-19 virus and will make the necessary operational changes” to keep members safe while attending any of them YMCA facilities and programs, the message reads.
