May 21 2020

WATERFORD - Baird Welch-Collins was unanimously endorsed as the Democratic candidate for state representative by delegates from the Montville and Waterford Democratic Town Committees at Monday’s virtual 38th House District nominating convention.

Baird, a two-term RTM member, said that he launched his campaign “with a call to reform Connecticut’s broken tax system, realistically plan for a changing economy, and execute a responsible recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.” Baird has earned bi-partisan respect for his consistently transparent advocacy for his community. He has served on the Public Health, Recreation, and Environment Committee, the Finance Wage and Personnel Committee; and he was appointed treasurer of the Flood and Erosion Control Board. He is currently a member of the Waterford RTM Public Protection and Safety Committee.
A life-long, third-generation Waterford Resident, Baird is now a high school history teacher and a part-time violence prevention educator for Safe Futures. A graduate of Waterford High School, he earned his B.A. and teaching certification from Connecticut College.
Baird looks forward to a respectful campaign and a substantive debate on the issues most important to Montville and Waterford.
