Connecticut Weather: What To Expect For The Total Eclipse And This Week

Here's the latest weather conditions for today's total eclipse and there are some thunderstorms in the work week forecast.

In case you haven’t heard by now, but the total eclipse (it’s actually a partial eclipse for us in Connecticut) occurs today beginning around 1:25 p.m. and the forecast from the National Weather Service looks pretty good with sunshine predicted though a top local meteorologist says we may have to contend with some passing clouds too. It’s going to be very hot though, with temps near 90 degrees.

The weather for the entire work week largely looks very good but there are a couple of thunderstorm chances beginning Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Outside of that time period, the weather looks tranquil and once thunderstorms roll through temps become much more comfortable with high temperatures in the low 80s beginning on Wednesday and dropping into the 70s by Thursday.

The upcoming weekend, at least as of right now, also looks good with sunny skies forecast and temps in the upper 70s. (To sign up for free, local breaking news alerts from more than 100 Connecticut communities click here.)

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said on social media, “Happy Monday! It's going to be another hot & humid day today with temperatures between 85 and 90 across much of the state. A little cooler at the beaches. I'm also expecting some passing high clouds for the afternoon that could impact the eclipse at times. * you must have the proper glasses to look at the sun even if there are clouds!*”
