UPDATE: Downed Wire On Fire Has Closed Route 85: Firefighters

WATERFORD, CT — Firefighters took to Twitter to alert motorists that Route 85 is closed in Waterford due to a "primary" utility wire down and on fire.

Both Waterford Police and Waterford Fire departments are on the scene. On Facebook, police said, the road is closed at Lake Konomoc and that the road is closed between Way Hill Road and Lakes Pond Road so traffic is being re-routed in the area.

"Please drive slower on the side roads as you are detoured," police wrote.

At 11:10 a.m., authorities announced the road was now open in both directions.
