Police last week arrested a man for sexual assault following a months-long investigation.

WATERFORD, CT — Police said they have concluded an intensive investigation into a sexual assault complaint filed several months ago, resulting in an arrest. Mario Torres, of no certain address, has been charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of risk of injury to a minor.

He was held on $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court May 1.

Police said on the department's Facebook page that the months-long investigation ended Friday, March 20, at about 11 a.m., when police arrested Torres. Police said the suspect was known to the victim and there was no ongoing threat to the general public during the investigation nor as a result of the arrest.
