Old Lyme Man Arrested For Home Depot Shooting Incident

A man has been arrested for firing his gun while confronting shoplifting suspects at a Home Depot in March.

OLD LYME, CT — A man has been charged for his involvement in a shots fired incident at the Waterford Home Depot in March. Scott Thompson, 56, of 25 Moss Point Trail in Old Lyme, was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

According to police, a call was received regarding shots fired at the 816 Hartford Road store on March 27. Police said an investigation revealed that Thompson fired his gun while confronting two individuals suspected of shoplifting from Home Depot.

Thompson was a customer at the store and not an employee. There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident. The larceny investigation is still ongoing.

Thompson voluntarily turned himself in after being notified of a warrant for his arrest, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in New London on June 10.
