Person Seriously Injured In Waterford Crash

One person was seriously injured in a wreck on I-395 north Tuesday afternoon.

WATERFORD, CT — A person suffered serious injuries in a Tuesday afternoon crash on Interstate 395 north in Waterford, according to a social media post by Connecticut State Police Troop E Montville. The accident occurred just north of exit 2 at 4:24 p.m.

Police said that an investigation found that a 63-year-old Norwich man was driving northbound on I-395 when the tonneau cover of his Chevrolet Colorado dislodged and hit a 2016 BMW 750i.

The driver of the the Chevy pulled over, left his car and was walking toward the center median of the highway when he was hit by a 2020 Honda Civic LX in the center lane. The 63-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Hartford Hospital.

Northbound lanes of the highway were temporarily shut down until 6:05 p.m. as police investigated the wreck, according to The New London Day.
