  • Flash lights or battery operated lighting
  • Fully charged cell phones/back-up battery source
  • Prescription medications
  • Baby food/diapers
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Pet food
  • Stored Water (1 gallon per person/day)
  • Fire Extinguisher
  • Fuel for generator

Generator Safety: Knowledge of generator use and safety before using. Do not use in a confined space due to carbon-monoxide exhaust fumes.

Wind Safety: Secure outdoor objects that may become projectiles (Wind gusts are expected to reach 55 mph). Stay away from doors and windows during the storm.

Water Safety: Do not drive though moving water or water more than six inches deep. Six inches of water is enough to hit the bottom of most passenger cars, flooding the exhaust and leaving you immobile. If you cannot walk through water (especially moving water), do not attempt to drive across it. It doesn’t take much for most cars to float. “Turn around – Don’t drown!”

Power Line Safety: Avoid all downed utility lines. They may be live and should be assumed so! Call 911 to report downed utility lines or any other storm related emergencies.
