Here's what you need to know about Tuesday's 2019 Waterford local election including the candidates, polling places, voting hours and more.

WATERFORD, CT —As voters head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 5 to vote in Waterford’s municipal election, here's what you need to know.
There are many races including First Selectman, Board of Selectmen, Town Clerk, Town Treasurer, Tax Collector, boards of finance, education, assessment appeals, zoning and zoning appeals as well as Representative Town Meeting.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.

First Selectman
The candidates are Democrat Elizabeth Sabila and Republican Rob Brule. Choose one.
Board of Selectmen
The candidates are Republican Jody Nazarchyk and Democrat Joshua Steele. Voters pick one.
Town Clerk
The candidate is Republican David Campo.
Town Treasurer
The candidate is Republican Abbas Danesh.
Tax Collector
The candidate is Republican Alan Wilensky.
Board of Finance
The candidates are Democrats Kate Fioravanti, J. W. ‘Bill’ Sheehan, Joe Filippetti and Jerry Fischer. The Republican candidates are James M. Reid, Kevin Petchark and Kevin S. Reardon. Voters choose four.
Board of Education
The candidates are Democrats Christine Hammond, Marcia Benvenuti and Miriam Furey-Wagner. The Republican candidates are Pat Fedor, Amanda GAtes-Lamothe, Craig Merriman and Michele Devine. Voters choose five.
Board of Assessment Appeals
The candidates are Democrat Marianna McGuirk and Republican Marilyn Lushner. Voters choose one.
Zoning Board of Appeals
The candidates are Democrats John R. Morgan and Billy Gene Collins and Republicans Warren Mackenzie and Cathy Newlin. And alternate, Democrat Jason Maryeski*, Voters choose two main and one alternate.
*Also a Green Party member.
Representative Town Meeting
The candidates are Democrats Frank Mangual, Chris Bachant, NickGauthier, and Liz Garcia Gonzalez. The Republican candidates are Robert Swansen, Timothy Condon, Valerie Muckle Metivier and Danielle Steward-Gelinas. The Green Party candidate is Samuel Urban. Voters choose five.
What else you need to know
Connecticut offers Election Day registration, but those who arrive need to be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote. Unlike previously registered voters standing in line before 8 p.m. to register won't guarantee the ability to vote.
