Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff:

We wanted to provide more information to our school community regarding the situation that occurred at Waterford High School this morning. The administration at Waterford High School received a bomb threat this morning and acted upon it immediately. At all times the students and staff were safe and our Security and Safety Plan protocols were followed. Through our collaboration with the Waterford Police Department, initially the fieldhouse areas were inspected and cleared so we could bring staff and students in from the inclement weather. Subsequently, the entire building was inspected and cleared and the building is deemed safe for occupancy. Due to the students being evacuated initially in inclement weather, we made the decision to dismiss students early based on the well-being of our students and staff. All classes at Waterford High School have been cancelled for the remainder of the day, including for students on remote learning.
We are proud of our administration, staff and students and the way that they handled a challenging situation. We are confident in our process and our collaboration with the Waterford Police Department. This situation remains an open investigation with the Waterford Police Department. Waterford High School will be open as scheduled tomorrow, October 30th.
