Waterford To Hire 2 Firefighters
The move comes as the town is looking to respond to higher emergency call volumes.
WATERFORD, CT - The town is hiring two firefighters in response to high levels of emergency call volumes. According to the town's website, one of the positions pays $19 per hour at 50 hours per week.
The New London Day reported that the two positions could cost the town a total of $200,000 in pay and benefits. The additional hires are intended to provide coverage on nights and weekends.
The move to expand the department from 9 to 11 firefighters comes as emergency call volumes have increased along with concerns about federal labor laws, according to The Day.
