Waterford Police Re-Do Portable Patrol Boxes

The boxes contain Narcan, portable breath testers and more.

The Waterford Police Department officers recently redid their portable patrol bags to make them smaller. The boxes used to be larger and made of a hard-sided material.

Now, the gear fits into a small, cloth bag.

"Contained in these bags are a small digital camera for use at accident and crime scenes, nasal Nalaxone (Narcan), narcotics test kits, and Portable Breath Testers (PBTs) to measure alcohol content," police said. "The bags were redone, and more were added after an incident in which an officer needed Nalaxone, but had not yet swapped with another patrol unit to receive their patrol box."

The kits are available as police officers walk out the door and are replaced when they return.
