WATERFORD, CT — Various town services will be closed effective today in an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

First Selectman Rob Brule issued the following statement Sunday:

Dear Waterford Residents,

I wanted to provide Waterford Residents with a brief update on the closures that have impacted our community, due to COVID-19.

My goal was to keep Town Hall open to the public. However, after careful consideration, I have decided to close Town Hall to the general public effective tomorrow, March 16, 2020.
In addition to Town Hall, the Community Center, Library, Youth & Family Services, Utility Commission and Public Works are also closed to the general public, however, we will all be actively working during this time. Please call us or email us, as there are many options for continuing to serve our residents.

Senior Services will continue to provide transportation to medical appointments and TVCCA will continue to deliver to meals on wheels recipients. The transfer station will remain open; however, staff may not be able to assist individuals. Trash and recycling pick-up will remain as usual. All police, fire and EMS services will continue to operate. The utility commission have protocols established as well and will be working to ensure the water & sewer system is operating properly. Please know we have protocols in place for various scenarios and we will strive to serve residents to the best of our abilities.

As the situation evolves, additional changes to this schedule may be required so please monitor the town website, my Facebook page (Rob Brule Waterford Selectman) and Channel 22 for the most up-to-date information.

While we know these actions may cause an inconvenience, we are trying to take the necessary measures to protect the health and safety of Waterford residents and employees.
We thank you in advance for your understanding that some departments in town may not be fully staffed going forward as things change.
