Welch-Collins Secures Primary Win After Recount: Report
Baird Welch-Collins still won out in the Democratic primary for the 38th state House district following a recount.
WATERFORD, CT — Baird Welch-Collins still won out in the Democratic primary for the 38th state House district following a recount Tuesday, the New London Day reported. Collins secured his nomination in a tight race by topping Patrick Murphy by eight votes.
According to the Day, Welch-Collins earned 616 total votes in Waterford and Montville, while Murphy earned 608. Over 1,400 votes from all four of Waterford's voting districts needed to be recounted Tuesday.
