Winter Team State Championship History: Waterford High School

WATERFORD, CT — As practices for high school winter sports officially get underway Monday (girls basketball, ice hockey and wrestling) and Thursday (boys basketball, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a league championship, and possibly a state title.

To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of the eight CIAC winter team titles won by Waterford High School in past years (* - indicates a co-op team):

• wrestling (3) - Class M: 2009, 2005; Class S: 1985
• boys basketball (2) - Div. III: 2018, Class M: 2012
• girls gymnastics (2) - State Open: 2009; Class L: 2009
• boys ice hockey (1) - Div. III: 2018*
