A mixed-use development project calls for 140 new apartments with retail space to be built in West Haven.

WEST HAVEN, CT — A proposal to build 140 new apartments with retail space on Washington Avenue in West Haven has some residents concerned about traffic and other issues, according to the New Haven Register.

The Register reports the mixed-use development project at 291 Campbell Ave. and 288 Washington Ave. includes razing the former American Buckle Co. factory on Campbell Avenue and building 140 apartments with ground-floor retail space.

City Councilwoman Bridgette Hoskie, who lives adjacent to the site, and about 15 others recently had an informational meeting with the developers, according to the Register. The developers will next seek the approval of the Inland Wetlands Commission.
