150-Apartment Development Plan Rejected In West Haven
A developer's proposal to build 150 apartments in West Haven was denied by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
WEST HAVEN, CT — The West Haven Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously rejected a developer’s plan to create 150 apartments at the current site of Universal Hotel Liquidators on Route 1, according to the New Haven Register.
The Register reports the developer sought an overlay at 855 Boston Post Rd. that would allow flexibility in site design when it conflicts with the established zoning regulations in the area.
The apartments were proposed in an area that is zoned exclusively for business and commissioners argued approving the overlay for housing would have conflicted with the city’s adopted Plan of Conservation and Development, according to the Register.
