The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Blizzard Warning...which is in effect until 6 PM EST this evening. The Winter Storm Warning is no longer in effect.

* Accumulations...10 to 16 inches.

* Locations...Southeastern Connecticut.

* Hazard type...Heavy snow and strong winds.

* Timing...This afternoon.

* Impacts...Hazardous/dangerous travel due to snow covered roads and poor visibilities. White-out conditions likely with blowing and drifting snow is likely. Local power outages with downed trees and power lines possible.

* Winds...North 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* Visibilities...One quarter mile or less at times.

* Temperatures...Falling into the 20s.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions...making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel...have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded...stay with your vehicle.
