The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Connecticut. At 10 a.m. today, temperatures across the state ranged from the upper 70s along the coast to the mid-80s in northern Connecticut with humid conditions.
For today, high temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-90s with the heat index between 100 and 105 degrees. The full sun temperature may reach 105 to 110 degrees.

Tuesday is expected to be the hottest day of the heat wave with highs near 100, especially in the urban centers of northern Connecticut. Combined with high humidity, the heat index may exceed 105 degrees at times Tuesday afternoon.
Wednesday is forecast to be almost as hot with highs in the upper 90s and a continuation of very humid conditions. The heat wave is expected to break on Thursday with highs holding in the mid-80s.
The hot and humid conditions may cause heat exhaustion or heatstroke for people working outdoors. The elderly, very young and those with respiratory issues are especially vulnerable to the heat. In addition, overnight lows will be staying in the very uncomfortable mid-70s for anyone without air conditioning.
The city has activated cooling centers through Thursday at the Main Library on Elm Street and the Ora M. Mason Branch Library on Benham Hill Road, Mayor Nancy R. Rossi and Emergency Management Director Joseph Soto announced.
The centers are for anyone who needs respite from the heat. No food or beverages are served.
The Main Library cooling center, 300 Elm St., is open from noon to 7 p.m. today and Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Ora Mason Library cooling center, 260 Benham Hill Road, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
Soto said the city Department of Emergency Management will continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
