Firefighter Hospitalized, 8 Displaced After Fire In West Haven

Several firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion & eight residents were displaced from their home after a two-alarm fire in West Haven.

WEST HAVEN, CT — One firefighter was hospitalized with burns and several residents were displaced from their home after a two-alarm fire Thursday afternoon in West Haven, according to multiple reports.

The American Red Cross is providing assistance to four families – six adults and two children – who were displaced by the fire, according to officials.

Crews responded to the scene of a working fire on Admiral Street near Hinman Street in the Allingtown section of West Haven, according to officials.

Officials advised motorists to use caution in the area.

Firefighters from the Allingtown and Center District are at the scene, according to a post on the West Haven Professional Firefighters- IAFF Local 1198 union’s Facebook page.

The New Haven Register reported one firefighter was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with burns on both legs. The fire happened at a multi-family home that has three dwelling units, according to the Register.

At least three firefighters were treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, according to WTNH News 8.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
