Ex West Haven Player To Receive Football Assn. Honor

WEST HAVEN, CT - Milford resident Scott Kelly has been chosen the recieve the Official Recognition Award at the Casey-O'Brien New Haven County Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame 59th Scholar Athlete awards dinner on Friday March 29 at Fantasia Banquet Facility, 404 Washington Avenue North Haven.
The award is presenterd by the New Haven Football Officials Association. Kelly will be honored along with twenty-nine high school and prep school scholar athletes who played football and are being honored for their academic excellence, leadership and citizenship.
Other award winners include Al Carbone Commissioner of the Southern Connecticut Conference who will receive the Chapter Award of Merit, John Ferrazzi of Sheehan High School, who will reveive the Coach of the Year Award and State Senator Len Fasano who will receive the Distinguished American Award.

A 1978 graduate of West Haven High School where Scott played football for the late Tom Hunt where he was considered a player who could always be depended upon. He also played baseball for the Blue Devils. He currently is a Supervisor for the Milford Post Office where he has worked for the past twenty-two years.
"We are honored to recognize Scott with this award,” said Bill O'Brien president of the New Haven County Chapter. "He has been been an official for 18 years and is not only considered a top notch Line Judge by his colleagues but is also generous with his time.”

Kelly and fellow official Bill Schule established the New Haven Football Officials Charities which has contributed more than $200,000 in aid to officials, their famlies and associates. The group has also helped players, coaches and coaches families.
A reception will begin at 5:30 pm with the march to the head table at 6:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased for $50 by sending a check payable to the 'National Football Foundation' to Donna Limone, 10 Ludlow Court, Branford, CT. 06405 or calling her at 203-481-8375.
