The diner is temporarily closed due to the fire.
WEST HAVEN, CT — Georgie’s Diner in West Haven is temporarily closed after it was damaged in a fire, the owners recently announced. The fire occurred in the basement on Friday night and was quickly knocked down by firefighters.
The popular diner is located at 427 Elm St. and is just about a block away from the fire department.
“We owe a huge THANK YOU to the #WHFD and for their quick response in extinguishing this fire for us!” reads a post on the Georgie’s Diner Facebook page. “We’ve taken the last couple days to evaluate the damage, and recognize that it would have been much worse without the efforts from the first responders.”

The cause of the fire is being investigated but officials say it appears to have been accidental, according to the New Haven Register.
“Thank you everyone for the outpour of love and support!” the owners wrote in a post on Facebook on Tuesday. “We are thankful that no one was hurt and we will be able to reopen in due time. In the meantime, if you have a diner craving we’d love to see you at our other location! Shoreline Diner, exit 59 in Guilford.”
