Man Found With Drugs After Crashing Into Pole: West Haven Police

WEST HAVEN, CT — A man accused of selling drugs in West Haven was arrested after crashing into a telephone pole late Friday night in New Haven, according to police.

Members of West Haven’s Street Crime unit saw suspected “drug activity” involving the driver of a white Lincoln SUV in the area of First Avenue and Spring Street around 10 p.m. on Sept. 25, according to officials.

Police tried to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Spring Street near the New Haven line, however, the driver, Tashuan Minor-Davis, engaged officers in a pursuit that was immediately terminated, officials said.

While searching the area for the SUV, police found it crashed into a telephone pole on Washington Avenue in New Haven.

As officers converged on the vehicle, Minor-Davis ran away while “discarding crack cocaine in his path of travel,” police said. Minor-Davis was apprehended after a short chase.

Police recovered 20 grams of pure fentanyl, 39 grams of crack cocaine and a small quantity of marijuana and Oxycodone pills from the scene, according to officials.

Tashuan Minor-Davis, 23, was arrested on charges of interfering with an officer, possession with intent to sell over one-half ounce of cocaine, two counts of possession with intent to sell narcotics, three counts of possession of controlled substance, illegally obtaining a prescription drug, engaging police in a pursuit, reckless driving, failure to display a number plate and possession of less than one-half of a cannabis-type substance.

Minor-Davis was released after posting a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court.
