Mooyah Burgers Opening Soon In West Haven

An opening date has been set for the "better burger" chain's third Connecticut location.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes will open its doors in West Haven next month. Mooyah Burgers, a fast casual, “better burger” chain, is opening on Monday, June 11 at 1 Atwood Place — just 400 feet from the University of New Haven campus.

The new Mooyah, which will be the Texas-based chain’s third location in Connecticut, is being brought to West Haven by local entrepreneur Prakash Wadhwani. After working in banking for 25 years and operating three Kennedy’s All-American Barber Club locations in the West Haven area, Wadhwani decided he wanted to get involved in the food industry.

“Before choosing to open Mooyah, I did my due diligence by researching other restaurant brands, and I believe Mooyah offers a superior product,” Wadhwani said in a press release. “Located next to a college campus, I think we are the perfect place to provide students with food made with fresh ingredients at an affordable price.”

Mooyah also has locations in Newington and in Mansfield near the UConn campus and Wadhwani says West Haven is an ideal spot for the state’s newest Mooyah.

“It can be difficult for college students to find quality food that tastes great and is reasonably priced,” Wadhwani said. “Parents often worry about what their kids are eating when they are away at school, but Mooyah is a place that offers so many great options for students.”

Mooyah will serve fresh burgers, all-natural Jennie-O turkey burgers, and black bean veggie burgers. Its non-GMO potato and multigrain buns are baked in-house daily, and guests can choose from five real cheeses, bacon, avocado, chili, and more than 20 free sauces and toppings made from garden-fresh veggies. Guests can also enjoy 10 flavors of real ice cream shakes, including vanilla, Hershey’s chocolate, Reese’s, Oreo and more.

“I’m really looking forward to bringing Mooyah to West Haven and for University of New Haven students to come back to campus in August to try all of our fantastic food,” Wadhwani said.
