Obituary: Harry J. Azano Sr., CPP, 75, of West Haven
Harry was a proud Army veteran, business owner, adjunct professor, nationally certified protection professional and a devoted family man.

WEST HAVEN, CT - (From West Haven Funeral Home) Harry J. Azano Sr., CPP, age 75, of West Haven passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on June 12, 2021.
e was the loving husband of Diane Durazzo Azano. Harry was born in New Haven, son of the late Pasquale Azano and Ethel Meserola Azano.
He is also survived by his children, Kimberly (Frank) Santino of Cheshire, Diane (Dan) Azano-Craft of Seymour, Harry James (Tarini Chloé' Bartholomew) Azano Jr. of Brooklyn, and Nicholas (Kayleen) Azano of West Haven, and his grandchildren, Dylan, Lucas, Dean and Millie.
Harry was a proud US Army Veteran. He was a Certified Protection Professional through ASIS, as well as a member of ACFE and the NFPA, and a former FDNY Certified High-Rise Fire Safety Director.
He was also an adjunct professor of protection sciences at the University of New Haven and John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
Harry dedicated over sixty years of his life’s work to the mastery, education, and professional provision of life-safety training and services. As an instructor and consultant, he has influenced members of the United States Military, Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security, as well as various teams of local fire and law enforcement professionals.
Together, with his best friend and business partner, John McKenna, he founded one of the most respected life-safety and security firms in the nation, Integrated Security Group.
To his family, Harry was a hero. He taught us so much about life and what is important. He was our teacher, coach and biggest supporter, and the kindest, most generous man we have ever known.
His sense of humor was impeccable. He knew when the punch lines would hit just right. He navigated all the hard times, all without you knowing there were even hard times. He gave when he had nothing to give.
He succeeded even when he thought he couldn't. And he did everything for his family. He lives on through his wife, his children who are blessed to call him Dad, his grandchildren who are blessed to call him Grandpa, Pop-Pop and Pop, and the countless people whose lives he touched.
The hours for visitation will held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Victory Church at 11am.
Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
