WEST HAVEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) John J. Murray Jr., 83, of Wallingford, died Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Masonicare Health Center.

John was born in New Haven, CT, May 29, 1938, the son of the late John J. Murray Sr. and Jetta (Longley) Murray.

He grew up in West Haven but spent most of his adult life in Wallingford.

He is survived by his children and their families, Jetta Albani and her husband Attilio Albani Jr. of Simsbury, and John J. Murray III and his wife Lisa Murray of Middlebury and his grandchildren Isabella, Trey and Cecilia Albani and Morgan and Sydney Murray.

John worked in the printing industry for most of his life at City Printing which became Northeast Graphics in North Haven.

There he met and remained life-long friends with many of his co workers. John loved all sports but he was a die hard New York Yankees and Jets fan.

He enjoyed traveling to different baseball stadiums, car races and other sporting events over the years.

He was a quiet man with simple pleasures. His favorite moments were spending time with his children and grandchildren and enjoying a beer and a game with his many friends at the Eagles Club, Ricky Ts or the Hard Hat.

As his illnesses weakened him, John was content to watch his teams on television with a sweet tea beside him and a crossword on his lap.

John and his family were thankful and grateful for his friends, family members, neighbors and caregiver that helped throughout his illness.

Your phone calls, visits, meals and support were greatly appreciated.

Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home.
