Obituary: William "Billy” Anthony Sagnella, 60, of West Haven

Billy worked as a mechanic for the U.S. Postal service for 30 years.

WEST HAVEN, CT - (From Washington Memorial Funeral Home) William Anthony “Billy” Sagnella, 60 of West Haven, formerly of Hamden died peacefully on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2011 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving sister Sally by his side.

Billy was born in New Haven on September 11, 1960, a son of the late Salvatore E. and Lena Morico Sagnella, and had resided in Hamden for most of his life before moving to West Haven 20 years ago.

Billy was a mechanic for the U.S. Postal service for the past thirty years, and was a 1978 graduate of Hamden High School.

He is survived by his sister Sally Freeman and her life partner James Lee Lake of Ft. Meyers, FL, his uncle Anthony Ruocco of East Haven, and many loving cousins and friends.

Billy’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, June 27th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.

His funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Monday, June 28th at 9:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish (St. Barnabas Church), 44 Washington Ave., North Haven.

Burial will be private.
