Race Is On For Trump-Loving West Haven Man’s Bucket List Wish

The community, Republicans and Democrats alike, is rallying to have President Trump contact a dying man to cross an item off his bucket list

WEST HAVEN, CT — The community is rallying to help a dying West Haven man’s bucket list wish come true and have President Donald J. Trump contact him. The New Haven Register reports City Councilwoman Bridgette Hoskie, D-1, is on a mission for her brother Jay W. Barrett, 44, who is dying of cystic fibrosis and began home Hospice on Sunday.

Barrett is a huge Trump fan and Hoskie is hoping to get Trump to send him a letter or acknowledge him in some way to cross an item off his bucket list. Hoskie told the Register that she is “100 percent Democrat” but this has become a bipartisan mission with all Westies — Republicans and Democrats alike — working together.

Hoskie is asking for anyone willing to help out to go to whitehouse.gov and send a request to the president asking him to contact Barrett at Jay.Barrett75@yahoo.com, according to the Register. His Instagram name is Fight_Forward75.

UPDATE: The bipartisan community effort has apparently paid off. The Register reports that a HUD official, Lynne Patton of New Haven, told Barrett that she spoke with Eric Trump and he has a signed gift from the president that Barrett should receive on Saturday.
