West Haven Hosts 6th Annual Beach Volleyball Tournament

From The Dept of Parks and Rec:The Department of Parks and Recreation is registering six-person teams for the sixth annual Mark Romano Memorial Coed Beach Volleyball Tournament.

The tournament is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 29 at the Sea Bluff Beach courts. The rain date is July 30.

Proceeds will benefit a breast cancer charity in support of a participant of the department’s beach and indoor volleyball leagues.

Romano, who supervised the leagues for many years, died in 2012 at age 49. The team entry fee is $100.

Register at Park-Rec’s Painter Park office, 190 Kelsey Ave., or download an application at www.whparkrec.com and return the completed form to the office by July 26. For details, call 203-937-3651.

The winner of the double-elimination tournament will receive a prize.

The event will include refreshments and a raffle with prizes donated by area businesses.
