West Haven Man Caught Stealing Amazon Packages In Hamden: Police
The man is accused of using a crowbar to break into the front lobby of an apartment building and stealing a package, according to police.
WEST HAVEN, CT — A West Haven man is accused of stealing Amazon packages from homes in Hamden, according to police.
Police responded to Lakewood Apartments, 1199 Whitney Ave., around 10 p.m. on Wednesday on the report of an “unwanted person,” according to Hamden Police Capt. Ronald Smith.
Property management at Lakewood told police that a person used a crowbar to forcibly enter the front lobby and steal a package. The person then left the area in a “minivan-type of vehicle,” according to Smith.

Hamden officers Timothy McKeon and Eduardo Diaz saw the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop. They searched the vehicle and found a crowbar and other stolen packages, according to Smith.
Smith said several empty Amazon boxes were also found in the area. The empty boxes were addressed to 1199 Whitney Ave. and 1204 Whitney Ave.

Eric Manley, 53, of Homeside Avenue in West Haven, was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, sixth-degree larceny and third-degree criminal trespass. He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond with a court date of March 31.
