West Haven Man Charged In Incident That Closed Park: Milford PD
Silver Sands State Park was temporarily closed on Monday as police searched for the man after a domestic violence incident, officials said.

MILFORD, CT — A West Haven man is accused of strangling a woman in a domestic violence incident that led to the temporary closure of Silver Sands State Park in Milford as police searched for him, according to officials.
Milford police responded to a report of domestic violence around 1:30 a.m. on Monday. The victim told police that she had been arguing with Anthony Sliney, who then threw coffee at her, according to officials.
Sliney, 32, left the scene before police arrived.

Then at 9 a.m., Connecticut State Police reported they had another domestic violence incident in Derby that involved the victim and Sliney.
The victim was at Bridgeport Hospital and told police more information about the incident that happened earlier in Milford, officials said. She said that Sliney threw coffee at her and took her phone.

When she tried to get her phone back, the victim told police that Sliney took out a knife and held it to her throat and threatened her.
Sliney is accused of strangling the victim until she almost passed out, according to police.
Police determined that Sliney was in the area of Walnut Beach in Milford. Sliney ran off into the marsh and wooded area when he was approached by officers, according to police.
Silver Sands State Park was temporarily closed as police extensively searched for Sliney with assistance from a K-9 and drone. Sliney was found around 5p.m. in the area of Walnut Beach and taken into custody.
Sliney, of Knox Street in West Haven, was arrested on charges of third-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, first-degree threatening and disorderly conduct. He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond and appeared in court on Tuesday, according to police.
