West Haven Mosquitoes Test Positive for West Nile Virus: Report

Mosquitoes in nine towns across the state have reportedly tested positive for the West Nile Virus.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus in nine towns across the state, including West Haven, according to WTNH News 8.

The weather this year is believed to be a contributing factor, as West Nile usually occurs during hot and dry summers, according to News 8. The number of towns to test positive for the virus is expected to soon go up.

Since the beginning of the season, 41 samples of mosquitoes have tested positive, News 8 reported.

In addition to West Haven, positive samples have also been found in West Hartford, Newington, Easton, Stratford, Stamford, Darien, Bridgeport and Hartford.
