The city has received the test results from the water samples collected Wednesday when a discolored mass was discovered: BREAKING

WEST HAVEN, CT — West Haven has reopened Bradley Point Beach on Friday and will reopen Oak Street Beach and Altschuler Beach on Saturday morning, according to the city’s website.
Water samples collected late Wednesday afternoon at city beaches and tested for 24 hours at a state Department of Agriculture lab have revealed fragments of decomposing seaweed, which are nontoxic and pose no health risks to the public, city Health Director Maureen B. Lillis said at 4 p.m. today.
As of Friday afternoon, bacteria levels remain elevated at Oak and Altschuler beaches, according to officials.
