City Of Coral Gables Approves Ordinance To Protect Waterways

Fertilizers containing nitrogen or phosphorus are prohibited on turf or landscape plants between June 1 to Sept. 30.

Recently, a fertilizer ordinance was approved that will help reduce excess nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorous from entering our waterways. Nutrient pollution contributes to algae blooms which can smother seagrass and kill fish.

In order to keep our waterways healthy, fertilizers containing nitrogen or phosphorus are prohibited on turf or landscape plants between June 1 to September 30.
